The Big Bad Budget |
Started making a budget today. No wonder I've had so much trouble just getting the bills paid. It's not so good when your calculable dependable income (meaning the part I know I'm getting each month) is less than your known expenses (for pretty much the basics plus student loan payments). Yikes. I had exceeded my income before I ever got to adding in groceries. Good thing I can factor in a low number for that thanks to the dumpster. I usually end up with some "surprise income" during the month as well and I'm not sure how to work that in. I'll likely leave it out of the budget and then when it does show, I can have a little bit for spending (though I should think up a percentage) and I should start a savings again. That way, any money hanging around without a purpose can have one....to not be spent. I'm also thinking that tip money that exceeds the amount in the budget should be savings. And income from weddings as well. The budget will have to be redesigned come summer due to choir being out and my checks being bigger in the bike world. Oh yeah and the fact that in May, I pay off one of my debts completely!!!!! That will free up a big chunk of money (though there are other things to pay off that it should then be allocated to). Oi, my head hurts (not only from my headache but from all this number crunching). Time for a snack and early to bed for me. |

Yeah, I've been doing my budget lately too. Pretty depressing. My roommate knows not to come near me when I've got Quicken out.
