Yesterday's Gathering: first week of Lent for those who follow a Lenten tradition. I have not followed that tradition at any point in my life and am learning about it a great deal this year (especially through Lenten services at St. Christopher's while I'm in the choir). I haven't chosen to "give something up" because the action itself does not yet have meaning to me. Yes, there is merit in remembering Jesus' sacrifice in such a way, I just have not found my own way to participate in that yet. Lent is facinating to me. The way it was the time of year in which new members could join the church and the time of year when those estranged from the church had a chance to be redeemed and rejoin their church family. The levels of redeption are many. I am contemplating creating a work of art for the new space (part of a larger movement to create new art along the themes of redeption for Easter). I want to include the new lives we have in our midst, namely the babies, as part of it. Probably need a few more days to figure out just what I'm going to attempt to create yet.
Happy Half Birthday to my favorite girl Amelie! Yesterday she turned 6 months and had her first meal of rice cereal. Ooooo she loves her rice cereal. She's such a big girl now. Growing up way too fast. Here is a little montage of the half-birthday girl on her big day.
