Join the Global Night Commute

If you don't know about children being abducted from their villages, raped, tortured, killed and forced to become killing machines, you need to go here. Every night in Uganda, children walk miles and miles into city centers, bus shelters and parks just to feel safe enough to sleep. If they stay home, they fear abduction by the LRA.

Someone should step in. If we can take our army into Iraq to liberate a people, why can we not take armies into Uganda to liberate the children? On April 29th, in large cities nationwide, we will be taking a stand to make people open their eyes and take notice of these children and their situation. We'll be "commuting" to the government center in Mpls and spending the night in various activities and sleeping in the street to draw awareness and to build solidarity with the children of Uganda. Want to get involved? Details here.

Does the big Invisible Children complex they propose to build with the money they raise seem like a responsible, long-term solution?

And, for the record, I'm with you--if anything were a justifiable military action, I think Uganda would be one. Of course, it's always more complicated than that...
