Travelling the Silk Road

Matt and I took a break from regular life to spend a little time at the Renaissance Festival this last weekend. It gave me a change to wear my belly dance get-up and to take him to see some dancing ( I got him to dress up a little like a pirate as well). We got to see some dance by the founder of the school I take lessons at. Also a little jousting. And of course there was a giant pickle, beef jerky and $5 glasses of beer.

May Day and CS2

On Sunday, we took the doggie with us to Powderhorn Park for the annual May Day parade and celebration. It was beautiful and warm and sunny. I'll post some photos soon. For now, here's us sitting on the curb watching the parade, edited in my new version of Photoshop.

March Snow

A few photo excerpts from last week's romp in the freshly falling early spring snow. Thor loves snow, and we like to play with him in the snow. And when we were tired playing, we took a walk.

Bridge fell down, but we're okay

At about 6pm today, the 35W bridge spanning the Mississippi River fell down into the river. On a normal day, Matt would be on his way home from work and likely on that bridge. Today he was at home having had a commitment at 1pm downtown to attend to. After hearing on the news about the ridge collapse, he and our upstairs neighbor booked it on their bikes down to the scene. Below are a few of the very surreal photos Matt took with my camera (which he grabbed in his quick thinking on the way out the door). There are some pretty incredible photos on the websites of local news channels like KSTP, KMSP, WCCO, and KARE11.
