Cinder-elly cinder-elly

Not exactly Cinderella, but tonight, I will be sleeping on a futon in front of this (which I made myself - the fire, not the futon). Hooray for fireplaces, may my house always have one.

Picking pumpkins with the boys
Matt and I went to Whistling Well Orchard with his mom, sister and nephews last weekend. It was quite chilly, nippy to say the least. We picked pumpkins, fed chickens, petted goats, and tried not to freeze. The little boys loved riding around in the wagon full of hay and picking out their own pumpkins.

Catching up
So I'm catching up on blogging and here's detail photos from that poncho I made for miss Amelie (not taken with a cell phone). Turned out super cute and makes her look like Red Riding Hood. What an adventure in crochet.

Homestar-o-lantern
I'm going to carve a pumpkin next week and I think it's going to be the face of Strong Bad. It will look something like this.

And guess what, there's stencils on Homestarrunner.com! They're super cool! Maybe I'll make The Cheat as well! Though that will require two pumpkins.

Little Red Riding Hood, you sure are lookin' good...
She's cute as a button in her new "red riding hood" style cape. Now all I have to say is, don't outgrow it before the winter is over.

p.s. Can you tell she likes having her picture taken?

of all the sweetest things, this is in the top 10
Matt got them for me, but they got forgotten at his house in our crazy weekend mess. He wanted me to see what they looked like as they were opening up all beautiful, so he sent me this picture over IM. That's got to be one of the sweetest things ever, don't you think?

what i do with my days
Mostly these days, I'm spending my time hanging out with some really cool and silly kids. I babysit 3 days a week. It's enormously fun. The other day we had a dance party after the older kids came home from school (well only 3 of the 4 of us participated). I'm really enjoying my mornings crochetting for an hour before the youngest wakes from her nap.

She and I spend our days reading books, playing "nigh-nites", trying to find the kitty, wandering to the playground to swing, and generally just amusing ourselves with the littlest things. Strange how my 28 year old mind is entertained by some of the same things an 18 month old enjoys. Yes, these photos were captured on my cell phone (probably the worst camera I've ever owned), but I wasn't planning on photographing, the opportunity just arose and the baby was amused by her image on my phone.

a stitch in time
Bethany had a stitch & bitch party yesterday. It was quite a lot of fun. I meant to take more photos, but once I got to crochetting, I forgot all about the camera. Oh, and the tomato basil cheese distracted me too. So, here are two photos from before the party really got rolling. I hope we have more of these this winter.

Weekly Porch Installment
I'm getting back into taking photos at the Porch now that more and more people are attending the 7pm. It's rather dark in there at that hour which also challenges me. I have a hard time getting decent exposure of anyone who isn't sitting next to me. I've been nostalgic lately about the sunny days in the 35th and Aldrich location with lots and lots of interesting angles for photo taking. Maybe I'll go back to crochetting during the gatherings for winter and leave the photographing to Matt. He took some of these, I'll put them in their own little section.

The following shots are by Matt. He wants to learn and already has a pretty decent eye. If I set the camera and hand it over, this is some of what results.
