CSA - fresh veggies on the way |
So for years I've wanted to get a share in a CSA ("community supported agriculture" - for those of you not in the loop it's farm fresh boxes of veggies delivered either weekly or biweekly to support local small farms, organic ones in particular). It's usually more food than one person could eat and more money than I could shell out by myself so I never did. This year will be different.
When at the Living Green Expo this spring, Matt and I stumbled upon some of his college friends who have a small organic farm (once only potatoes, now much more called Driftless Organics) and they had the option to buy a CSA share. After very little discussion (since we were both very excited about it) and deciding to share our box with Matt's mom, we enrolled in the half share (every other week), though we may upgrade to an every week box depending on how much is in the box and how much we can chow down on.
I'm excited to be supporting a CSA and one of people we know and to be getting fresh veggies twice a month so affordably! Our first box gets picked up on Thursday! I can hardly wait! You can pretty much count on my taking pictures of it and posting them here (not necessarily in a timely manner, but eventually).Labels: food |
