One man's trash... |
... becomes my treasure. Chris and I spent the wee hours of last night scavenging in piles of mostly junk at what we have termed Trash Out. A local city (that shall remain unnamed here) is having their annual spring curbside cleanup and you wouldn't believe the good stuff people throw out! We're being more selective this year, but did not come away empty handed. I am in the search for the perfect bike frame for a custom bike project. Still looking, but hopeful as there are more weekends. We also have fun getting a few chuckles at the expense of other people's trash. I, of course, brought my camera along to capture some of the mayhem.
Seriously, latch-hook mushrooms? Trash fabrics are always a bit sketchy, so I didn't take it (would have if it were a poster or painting). Note retro organ and old skool typewriter.
You can't save them all. Though I'd like to. This one I deemed beyond saving last night, though this morning wished I'd at least carted it home to examine more closely by daylight. So sad, rest in peace.
The K.O.T (King of Trash)
What holiday is this a decoration for??!?!?
Chris made friends with a few monsterous stuffed creatures.
That's one heck of a catch!
Lizard rides: $5
This is one thing I did save, a very cool custom painted full size banana seat chopper. It's got a little character, but the only things it really appears to need are a new tube for the rear tire, a little grease and some TLC. I may ride this around uptown for a while before deciding to sell it once restoration is complete.
