It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away
So I had to take my car in for a couple crucial repairs this afternoon and it was gorgeous, I repeat, gorgeous outside. Instead of being trapped inside the lobby of the auto shop for an hour while some guy wrenched on my auto, I arrived at the shop with my bike strapped to the rear just itching to ride. The shop isn't in the most residential of areas, so it was not easy to find roads to ride on that had pretty things to go see or to stay out of the path of oncoming semi-trailer trucks. But I managed to while away an hour in the sunshine and bliss.

There is green coming up all over the place. Shoots are pushing their way through the deadfall of last years growth and reaching for the sky. I sat down in the neglected grass behind one of the industrial buildings (near some really cool train tracks) and marvelled at the rapid approach spring has had on the once barren and brown landscape.

I also walked the tracks back to the street. I like to walk tracks, you never know what you'll find. Today, I found 3 rusty old railroad spikes which had been thrown to the wayside when new ones were placed. I kept them with inklings of a really cool art project in their future. Some kind of sculputure maybe.

I also opened up a bunch of windows at home. They had all been insulated with plastic to keep the heating bill down over the winter, but it was so hot and stuffy indoors I couldn't take it anymore. I tore the plastic off a few windows (realizing that some of our windows don't have screens which made me sad) and flung up the sashes to let in the fresh air. I then realized the storm windows were also closed and I had to fiddle with them.

The heat is now turned off, the stale smell has been blown from the house and the ceiling fan is whirring away. It is now officially spring. The kitties are loving it up. Lounging in the sun, playing on the porch, sniffing the air through the open windows. Last night I had them both on my window sill since it was the only open window.
